How to Add or Remove Features from an Existing Biome with Lithostitched

Understanding the Data-Driven Approach

Lithostitched does not add a config screen or in-game commands for biome editing. Instead, it exposes a set of data file hooks that other mods and datapacks can use to inject, remove, or reorder the placed features inside any biome. If you want to change a biome yourself, you do it by writing a datapack that targets Lithostitched's biome modification system rather than editing the vanilla biome JSON directly.

Writing the Datapack

Create a datapack folder in your world's datapacks directory. Inside it, add a data folder with a namespace of your choosing, then a subfolder matching the path Lithostitched expects for biome modifications (check the mod's bundled example datapack or its documentation for the exact folder name, since it is version-specific). In your JSON file, reference the target biome by its resource location, then list the features you want to add under an add array and the ones you want to remove under a remove array. Each entry uses the standard placed feature ID format, such as minecraft:ore_diamond or a modded feature ID.

Testing Your Changes

Load a new world or use /reload followed by exploring fresh chunks, since biome features are baked at chunk generation time. Existing chunks will not update. If nothing changes, verify your JSON syntax and confirm the biome ID matches the one you actually want to modify.
