How to Light Up Caves While Mining Without Placing Torches

Hold a Light Source and Just Walk

The core trick of the Light Aura Mod is that you never need to place a block to see. Simply select a torch, lantern, soul lantern, glowstone, sea lantern, or similar light-emitting item in your hotbar and hold it in your main or off hand. The area around you lights up automatically as you move, so you can explore tunnels, ravines, and mineshafts hands-free.

Mining Routine That Works

1. Keep a stack of torches (or a single glowstone block) in a dedicated hotbar slot.

2. Hold that item while you dig. The light follows you, so you always see the next block you are about to break.

3. When you need both hands for building or fighting, switch to your tool. The light goes out while the source is stowed, so plan your swaps.

4. If you want light to stay behind in a dead-end branch, drop the source on the ground instead of placing it. Dropped sources keep glowing, so you can leave a lantern behind as a permanent marker and pick it up on your way back.

Why This Beats Torch Spam

You save torches, you save time, and you never run out of light mid-tunnel. It is especially useful in the deepslate layers where mobs spawn in the dark and you want to keep moving.
