How to Choose the Right Light Source for Your Aura
Match the Source to the Job
Not every light-emitting item behaves the same in practice, and picking the right one changes how your aura feels. The mod supports torches, lanterns, soul lanterns, glowstone, sea lanterns, and other light-emitting items, so you have options.
Quick Picking Guide
- Torches — cheap, stackable, easy to drop as breadcrumbs. Best for long mining trips where you want many small lights.
- Lanterns — a warmer, brighter feel. Good for base interiors and dropped markers you plan to leave.
- Soul lanterns — a cooler blue tone. Useful when you want a distinct color for a themed build or to tell your markers apart from normal lanterns.
- Glowstone — a strong, bright source. Great for the Nether, deep ocean, and anywhere you want maximum visibility from a single held item.
- Sea lanterns — clean white light that fits underwater and modern builds.
Practical Tips
Keep one bright source (glowstone or sea lantern) for exploration and a stack of torches for breadcrumbing. Put your main source in your off hand so your tool stays in your main hand. If you are switching between building and exploring, hotbar your source next to your pickaxe so the swap is one keypress. Test a few sources in a dark room at your base to see which brightness and color you prefer before committing to a long trip.
