How to Use LagGoggles to Profile Specific Chunks or Areas

Why Scope Your Profiling

Profiling the whole server can bury a local problem under unrelated noise. If you already suspect a particular base, farm, or dimension is responsible, narrowing the profiler to that area gives you a much cleaner signal and faster results.

Target the Area

Move to the region you want to investigate and start a profiling run while you are standing there. LagGoggles can focus its sampling on the loaded chunks around your position, so the results reflect only what is ticking nearby rather than the entire world. Keep the area loaded and active during the run — if you walk away and the chunks unload, you will not collect useful data. For a specific machine or farm, stand close enough that its chunks stay loaded and let it run through a full cycle.

Compare and Isolate

Run the profiler once with the suspect build active and once with it disabled or removed. Comparing the two result sets tells you how much tick time that build actually costs, which is more reliable than eyeballing a single run. If you have several candidate areas, profile each one separately and note the top entries for each. This lets you rank your problem spots and fix the biggest one first. Remember that results are relative to what was loaded and active during the run, so keep conditions consistent between comparisons.
