How to Identify Laggy Entities and Tile Entities In-Game

Entities vs. Tile Entities

LagGoggles separates the things that tick into categories, and understanding the difference helps you interpret results. Entities are moving objects — mobs, items, projectiles, and similar. Tile entities are the block-bound logic holders: machines, chests with inventories, spawners, and anything else that runs code each tick while placed. A lag report may list both, and the fix differs for each.

Find the Offenders

Start a profiling run and let the problem occur. In the results, look for entries grouped by entity type or block type. A single entity type appearing many times usually means you have a population problem — too many of that mob or item entity. A single tile entity type appearing many times usually means you have too many of that block, or one that is unusually expensive.

Locate and Fix

Use the in-world highlighting to walk to the flagged positions. For entities, the fix is usually population control: reduce spawning, add a kill mechanism, or clear excess items. For tile entities, the fix is usually reducing count or throughput — break redundant machines, stagger their operation, or replace a large array with a smaller design. After changes, re-profile the same area to confirm the entries dropped. If a type still dominates, the issue may be a single badly-behaved instance rather than sheer numbers, so inspect the highlighted positions individually.
