Protecting Animals from Threats
Preventing Despawning
Animals can despawn if they wander too far or if chunks unload. Contain species within fenced or walled enclosures to keep them in loaded chunks. Name-tag important individuals to prevent despawning entirely—this is especially useful for rare or hard-to-find species you want to preserve.
Defense Against Hostile Mobs
Create secure habitats with adequate lighting to prevent hostile mob spawns that could harm your animals. Use fences, walls, or natural barriers to separate vulnerable species from predators. Some animals may be prey species in the mod—keep them away from potential predators or in protected enclosures.
Environmental Safety
Avoid placing animals in dangerous terrain where they might fall, drown, or get stuck. Provide appropriate shelter—caves or covered areas for nocturnal species, open spaces for those that need room to roam. Ensure water access for aquatic and semi-aquatic species, but prevent accidental drowning in deep water by creating shallow areas or escape routes.
Monitoring Population Health
Regularly check on your animals to ensure they're thriving. Maintain food availability and breeding conditions. Remove any animals that seem stuck or distressed and relocate them to safer areas.
