Set Up Companion Chat and Language Model Integration

Enabling Text Conversations

The mod supports optional text conversations with your companion through language model integration. To set this up, use the command /az ai config to open the language model configuration menu.

Configuration Options

You can connect either:

• Local language model: Runs on your machine for offline conversations
• Online language model: Connects to a remote service for cloud-based responses

Configure your preferred setup through the AI config menu, following the prompts to establish the connection.

Chatting with Your Companion

Once configured, use these commands to interact:

• /ask <message> sends a chat message to your active companion
• /az ask <message> directs a message to a specific named companion

Your companion's responses are influenced by their personality settings (configured via /az persona edit), creating unique dialogue based on their defined traits and speech patterns.

Admin Setup

Server hosts and operators can use /az admin to access the main companion administration menu for broader configuration options.
