How to Extract and Sequence Dinosaur DNA
Setting Up Your DNA Lab
To begin cloning dinosaurs, you'll need to establish a workspace with the mod's DNA extraction and sequencing machines. These machines process fossils and genetic material to create viable dinosaur DNA sequences.
Extracting DNA from Fossils
Start by collecting fossils from the world or crafting them. Place fossils into the extraction machine—this device breaks down fossilized remains and recovers DNA fragments. The extraction process takes time and may yield incomplete sequences.
Sequencing and Completion
Once you have DNA fragments, transfer them to the sequencing machine. This device attempts to fill gaps in incomplete DNA strands using available genetic data. Multiple fragments of the same species increase success rates.
The sequencing machine produces complete DNA codes that can be stored or used immediately for incubation. Higher-quality or more complete sequences result in healthier, more stable dinosaurs. Keep multiple copies of valuable DNA sequences as backup, since the cloning process consumes the genetic material.
Experiment with different fossil combinations to discover rare species and variants.
