Surviving the Cursed Preset as a Visual Challenge
White Noise Shaders offers a cursed graphical preset for players who want a bizarre challenge. Heavy static, colour splitting and screen tear make ordinary survival much harder, because you can't always trust what you see.
Setting up the challenge
1. Open Options → Video Settings → Shader Packs and select White Noise Shaders.
2. Open the pack's settings screen and choose the cursed preset.
3. Start a fresh survival world so the challenge begins from scratch.
Tips for playing through the noise
- Listen more than you look. Turn up hostile creature and block sounds in Music & Sounds. Footsteps, hisses and arrows will often warn you before your eyes do.
- Use the debug screen (F3) to check coordinates and facing direction when the distorted skybox makes it hard to tell where you are.
- Light everything. The corrupted lighting makes dark areas hard to judge, so place torches generously around your base and mine tunnels.
- Build simple, recognisable landmarks. Tall pillars and straight paths are easier to spot through static than natural terrain.
- Take caves slowly. Screen tear can hide drops and lava, so sneak near edges.
Treat it like a hardcore mode for your eyes. Set your own goals, such as reaching the Nether or beating the dragon, entirely under the cursed preset.
