White Noise Shaders FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I turn on White Noise Shaders?
Open Options, then Video Settings, then Shader Packs, select White Noise Shaders from the list and confirm. Shader packs need a shader loader such as Iris or OptiFine. If the Shader Packs button is missing, the loader isn't running.
Is my game broken? Everything looks like static and the colors are split?
No, that is the intended look. The pack deliberately covers block textures and the sky with heavy visual noise and adds strong chromatic aberration and screen tear effects. A distorted, corrupted world means the shader is working correctly.
Will White Noise Shaders lag my potato PC?
It is built to run on low-end hardware without dropping framerates, so it is a reasonable shader choice for weak machines. If you do see stutter, check whether other performance-heavy mods or resource packs are loaded alongside it.
I'm still getting low FPS with the shader on, what can I try?
Lower your render distance first, then turn the shader off briefly to see whether the slowdown comes from the shader or from something else in your setup. If FPS stays low with shaders off, the shader isn't the cause.
What is the cursed preset?
It is a graphical preset meant as a bizarre visual challenge for players who want the strangest version of the corrupted world. Switch to it through the shader pack's settings if the regular look isn't unsettling enough. Expect it to make normal play noticeably harder to read.
How do I quickly turn the shader off when I need to see clearly?
Go back to Video Settings, then Shader Packs, and select the off option. If your shader loader has a toggle keybind, you can use that instead to flip shaders on and off without leaving the game. Check your Controls menu to find it.
Does it change how lighting and shadows look?
Yes. Lighting and shadows are reworked into a strange, corrupted atmosphere rather than a realistic one. Caves, nights and shaded areas can look very different from vanilla, so give yourself time to adjust before risky trips.
Does the shader permanently change my world or blocks?
No, it is purely visual. Your blocks, builds and world save are untouched, and everything looks normal again as soon as you disable the shader pack.
Do my friends or the server need White Noise Shaders too?
No. Shaders run only on your own client, so the server doesn't need it. Other players will see the normal world unless they turn the pack on themselves.
The screen tear and color splitting are giving me a headache, any tips?
Take regular breaks and switch the shader off for tasks that need precise vision, like parkour, combat or reading signs. Turn it back on for exploring or screenshots. Avoid the cursed preset if the regular look already bothers you.
