Vynix Shader FAQ

10 questions players actually ask, answered.

How do I turn on VynixShader?
Open Options, then Video Settings, then Shader Packs. This menu is provided by Iris or OptiFine. Click VynixShader in the list, then click Apply or Done. The new lighting, shadows and reflections should appear as soon as the world reloads.
Do I need Iris or OptiFine to use VynixShader?
Yes. VynixShader is a shader pack, not a standalone mod, so it needs a shader loader like Iris or OptiFine to run. Without one there is no Shader Packs menu and the pack has no effect.
I put VynixShader in my mods folder and nothing happened, why?
Shader packs don't go in the mods folder. In the Shader Packs menu, click the button that opens the shader pack folder and put the VynixShader file there. Then reopen the menu and select it.
Will VynixShader run on my mid-range PC?
It is designed for medium setups. Its lighting calculations are optimized to keep framerates steady on mid-range hardware without heavy frame drops. Very low-end machines may still struggle, since any shader pack adds work for the graphics card.
My FPS dropped after enabling VynixShader, what can I do?
Start by lowering your render distance, which is usually the biggest performance cost with shaders, and close other heavy programs. To confirm the shader is the cause, compare your FPS in the same spot with shaders on and off.
Does VynixShader change Minecraft's look a lot?
No. It keeps the core vanilla art style and mainly upgrades lighting. You get soft shadows, brighter ambient light, clearer water and smooth reflections, while blocks and textures still look like Minecraft.
Which blocks get reflections with VynixShader?
Water gets smooth surface reflections, and so do a selection of glossy blocks. Ordinary matte blocks don't reflect. To see the effect best, look across open water or at shiny blocks under good light.
Does VynixShader make caves and nights easier to see in?
Yes. It lights dark caves and night scenes with warm, balanced block light and improved ambient brightness, so torches and other light sources look softer and fill spaces more naturally. It only changes what you see, not the game's real light levels, so mobs still spawn in dark spots and you still need to light areas properly.
Do shadows work everywhere or only in some biomes?
The soft shadows apply to terrain and structures across all biomes. Builds, trees and landscapes everywhere cast them.
Does the server need VynixShader for me to use it in multiplayer?
No. VynixShader is purely a client-side visual pack running through your own Iris or OptiFine, so you can use it on any server. Other players won't see your shaders, and the server doesn't need anything installed.
