Get the Best Visual Quality Without Losing Frames

Understand the Trade-offs

Vivid Swift Lighting is designed to balance visuals and performance. Maximum quality settings may reduce your frame rate on lower-end computers, while minimum settings preserve frames but reduce visual impact.

Find Your Sweet Spot

Start with medium-quality settings. Monitor your FPS using the debug screen (F3). If you're consistently above your target frame rate (usually 60 FPS), gradually increase visual settings. If you drop below target, reduce them incrementally.

Prioritize Impactful Settings

Some settings affect visuals more than performance:

  • Shadow quality has high visual impact with moderate performance cost
  • Bloom and glow effects look great but are performance-intensive
  • Lighting detail provides noticeable improvement with lower overhead

Test in Various Conditions

Play in different environments—caves, forests, open sky, near water—since lighting calculations vary by location. A setting that works in open plains might struggle in dense caves.

Save Your Configuration

Once you achieve your ideal balance, save the settings. You can always adjust later if your hardware changes or if you want to experiment with different visual styles for different playthroughs.
