Make Your Builds Glow at Night with Bloom Lighting
Virelia Shaders adds soft bloom to torches, lanterns and other light sources. This turns ordinary lighting into a warm glow after dark, so it's worth planning your lighting with the effect in mind.
Placing lights for the best glow
1. Build or test at night. Bloom stands out most against darkness. Sleep through the day or use /time set night if cheats are on.
2. Line paths with lanterns. Place them on fence posts or hang them under roofs. A row of glowing points looks great with bloom.
3. Space your lights out. Separate pools of light show off the glow better than a wall packed with torches.
4. Mix light sources. Torches, lanterns and other vanilla light blocks all get the soft bloom. Compare them side by side and pick the look you like.
5. Step back and look. View the build from a distance at night to judge the overall effect.
Combining with other effects
- Gardens: Put lanterns among grass and trees. The gentle foliage movement and the soft glow work well together.
- Waterfronts: Build docks or bridges with lights along a river or lake to add the pack's water reflections to the scene.
- Under trees: Light the area beneath a big tree. The glow contrasts nicely with the darker spots around it.
