Get Smooth Frame Rates with Virelia Shaders on a Low or Medium PC
Virelia Shaders is built to run well on low and medium hardware. You can still fine-tune your settings if the game stutters in busy areas.
Start with vanilla settings
These settings usually have the biggest impact, so change them first:
1. Open Options > Video Settings.
2. Lower Render Distance a few steps. Fewer loaded chunks means less work for every shader effect.
3. Lower Simulation Distance if you don't need far-off farms running.
4. Reduce Particles and Entity Distance if your area has many mobs or effects.
Tune the shader pack itself
1. Open the shader menu (Shader Packs in Iris, Shaders in OptiFine).
2. With Virelia Shaders selected, open its settings button if the pack offers one.
3. If you find options for the heavier effects, such as shadows, clouds or reflections, lower one of them.
4. Apply the change and test it in a demanding spot:
- A dense forest tests shadows and moving foliage.
- A large ocean or lake tests water reflections.
5. Repeat with one change at a time so you know which setting actually helped.
Also close background programs while playing. If the game still struggles, you can switch the pack off from the same menu while building in laggy areas. Turn it back on for exploring.
