Fix True Light Shaders Not Showing Up or Looking Unchanged

True Light Shaders is designed to keep the vanilla art style, so its effects are deliberately subtle. Before you assume something is broken, figure out whether the pack is off or just doing its job quietly.

Is the Pack Actually Loaded?

1. Open Options > Video Settings. If there is no Shader Packs or Shaders button, your shader loader (Iris or OptiFine) is not running. Shader packs will not work without one.

2. Open the shader menu and check that True Light Shaders is selected, not just listed.

3. Confirm the file is in the shaderpacks folder, not resourcepacks. Shader packs placed in the resource pack folder will not appear in the shader list.

4. Click Apply and give the pack a moment to load.

Is It Working but Subtle?

  • Stand in daylight beside a tall wall, tree, or cliff.
  • Look at the ground and nearby blocks for soft shadows.
  • Toggle the pack off and on from the shader menu while looking at the same spot.

If shadows appear when it is on and disappear when it is off, the pack is working as intended. It adds clean shadows and natural lighting, but it does not repaint the game.

Still Having Trouble?

  • Remove other shader packs from the folder so you can be sure which one is selected.
  • Turn off resource packs one at a time in case one conflicts with the lighting.
  • Restart the game after changing loaders or moving files.
