Keep Your Frame Rate Smooth While Using Trial Shaders
Trial Shaders is built to keep frame rates stable on many standard computer setups. If the game still stutters, these vanilla settings can help.
Lower the heaviest settings first
1. Open Options > Video Settings.
2. Reduce Render Distance. Drawing fewer chunks is usually the biggest performance gain, and the shading and shadows still look good up close.
3. Reduce Simulation Distance if your loader or game version shows it.
4. Set Max Framerate to a value your monitor can display. Running far above that wastes effort.
5. Lower or disable extra effects you don't need, such as particles, entity shadows or high cloud settings.
Check the shader setup
- Open the shader menu (Shader Packs on Iris, Shaders on OptiFine). Confirm that only Trial Shaders is selected.
- If the pack offers a settings screen in that menu, open it and reduce any options that look demanding.
- Close other heavy programs running in the background while you play.
Narrow down the cause
If you still get lag:
- Turn shaders off in the shader menu and play for a minute. If the lag stays, the cause is something else, such as other mods, world size or your system.
- Turn shaders back on and note where the slowdowns happen. Large builds and wide views of water and sky may be more demanding than tunnels or indoor areas.
Adjust one setting at a time so you can tell which change actually helped.
