Find the Best Water Reflections for Screenshots
One of Trial Shaders' main features is its water. Surfaces get subtle wave movement and clear reflections. Here is how to show that off.
Pick the right spot
1. Find calm, open water. An ocean, a large lake or a wide river works best. A big flat surface gives the reflections room to show.
2. Put something worth reflecting nearby. Cliffs, trees or your own builds along the shoreline give the reflection detail.
3. Stand low and look across the water. A shallow viewing angle makes reflections easier to see than looking straight down.
Time it with the sky
Trial Shaders refreshes sky tones and cloud layers as day turns to night, and the water picks up those colours.
- Daytime: clean sunlight tones give a bright, clear look.
- Sunrise and sunset: the changing sky colours make the most dramatic shots.
- Night: moonlight and the night sky give a calmer, darker mood.
Tips
- To get clean screenshots, press F1 to hide the HUD, then F2 to save the image.
- A higher render distance in Video Settings lets distant terrain show up in reflections. Lower it again if your frame rate drops.
- The waves move gently, so take a few shots in a row and keep the one where the reflection looks sharpest.
