Lighting Your Builds to Look Their Best Under Simply Super Shaders

Simply Super Shaders adds warm sunlight and soft block illumination while keeping vanilla block textures intact. That means your existing builds will look familiar, just with nicer light. Here is how to design with that in mind.

Work with the sunlight

  • Orient key features toward open sky. Soft shadows read best when sunlight can reach the walls and roofs of a build.
  • Use overhangs and roof edges. The pack's soft shadows add depth under eaves, porches and arches. This makes simple shapes feel more detailed.
  • Check your build at different times of day. Stand still and watch how the warm light shifts across it. Then adjust windows or openings where faces look flat.

Use block light for warmth

  • Place light sources inside rooms and along paths. Torches, lanterns and other light blocks give off a softer glow than in vanilla.
  • Space lights evenly. The softer glow can look patchy when lights are clustered in one corner.
  • Light builds near water. The pack's clean water surfaces pair well with lit docks, bridges and shorelines.

The pack preserves the original block look, so you don't need to change your block palette. If you already use a texture pack you like, keep it. The shader handles the lighting, and your textures stay as they are.
