Enable or Disable Soft Shadows
Locate Shadow Settings
In Shader Options, find the shadows section. Simple Brightness Shaders includes soft shadow effects that add depth without harsh, pixelated edges.
Toggle Shadow Features
You'll typically find options to:
- Enable/Disable Shadows – Turn the entire shadow system on or off
- Shadow Softness – Adjust how blurred or sharp shadow edges appear
- Shadow Intensity – Control how dark shadows become
Understand the Trade-off
Soft shadows improve visual depth and make lighting feel more realistic, but they do consume more GPU resources than flat lighting. If you're on a low-end system and need every frame, disabling shadows is a safe choice. The shader still provides clear surface lighting without them.
Apply and Compare
Toggle shadows on and off in the same location to see the difference. Caves and areas under trees show shadow effects most clearly. Choose settings that balance visual quality with your target frame rate.
