Enable Terror VHS Shaders and Adjust Visual Intensity
Activating the Shader
Terror VHS Shaders work through your graphics settings. Open the Shader Options menu (usually accessed through Video Settings) and locate the shader selection dropdown. Select Terror VHS from the available shaders list. Your screen will immediately apply the VHS filter effect.
Tuning the Effect Strength
The mod includes adjustable parameters to control how intense the horror effect feels. Look for settings like:
- Glitch intensity: Controls how frequently tape artifacts and distortions appear
- Color saturation: Adjusts the faded, washed-out look typical of old recordings
- Scan lines: Makes the retro CRT monitor effect more or less visible
- Vignette darkness: Darkens screen edges for a claustrophobic feel
Lower these values if the effect feels overwhelming during normal gameplay. Increase them when building horror maps or exploring dark areas for maximum atmosphere. You can toggle the shader on and off instantly by switching back to Default shaders if you need a break from the effect.
