Turn On Refractal Shaders and Check That Its Effects Are Working
Refractal Shaders is a shader pack, so it runs through a shader loader such as Iris or OptiFine. If you can open a Shader Packs screen in your video settings, you are ready.
Enable the pack
1. From the title screen or pause menu, open Options > Video Settings > Shader Packs.
2. Click the button that opens the shader pack folder and place the Refractal Shaders file in the shaderpacks folder.
3. Go back to the Shader Packs screen. Refractal Shaders should now appear in the list. If it does not, close and reopen the screen.
4.
Confirm each effect
Load a world and run through this quick checklist:
- Motion blur: Swing your camera left and right quickly, then sprint across open ground. The screen should smear slightly as you turn or travel.
- Focus blur: Stand still and look straight at a nearby block or mob. The object in your direct line of sight should stay sharp while other parts of the view soften.
- Liquid distortion: Walk up to a lake or river and look at the surface. The water should ripple and warp what you see through it.
The blocks themselves should still look like normal Minecraft. This pack keeps the familiar blocky art style and changes the optical effects on top of it. If the world looks identical to vanilla with no blur or distortion, open the Shader Packs screen again and make sure Refractal Shaders is selected rather than "Off" or another pack.
