Set Up RealisticLite Shaders for the First Time

Install Iris Shader Loader

RealisticLite requires Iris to run. Install Iris as a mod in your mods folder before adding the shader. Iris acts as the bridge between Minecraft and shader files, handling all the rendering calculations.

Add RealisticLite to Your Shader Folder

Once Iris is installed, launch Minecraft at least once so Iris creates its shader directory. Close the game, then place the RealisticLite shader file into your shaderpacks folder (usually located in .minecraft/shaderpacks).

Activate the Shader In-Game

Open Minecraft and go to Options > Video Settings > Shaders. You'll see a shader selection screen. Find RealisticLite in the list and click it to enable it. The shader will load immediately—you should notice softer shadows and brighter daylight right away.

Adjust Performance if Needed

If your frame rate drops, return to the shader settings screen. Look for performance options like shadow distance or reflection quality and lower them. RealisticLite is designed to run smoothly, but your specific hardware may need tweaks for your target frame rate.
