Turn On Realistic Vista Shaders with Iris or OptiFine

Realistic Vista Shaders works with both Iris and OptiFine. You only need one loader. Once the pack is in place, you switch it on from the in-game menu.

Activating the Pack

1. Launch Minecraft with your shader loader (Iris or OptiFine) active.

2. From the title screen or pause menu, open Options → Video Settings.

3. Open the shader menu:

  • Iris: click Shader Packs.
  • OptiFine: click Shaders.

4. Click Open Shader Pack Folder and make sure Realistic Vista Shaders is inside the shaderpacks folder. It does not go in the resourcepacks folder.

5. Return to the menu and select Realistic Vista Shaders from the list.

6.

Checking That It Worked

Load a world and look for the pack's main visual changes:

  • Soft shadows cast across terrain, trees and buildings.
  • Reflections on surfaces, especially water.
  • Color gradients in water that shift with depth.
  • A cracked rock crust across lava, with a bright glow around it.

If the world still looks vanilla, go back to the shader menu. Confirm the pack is highlighted and that shaders aren't toggled off. On Iris, check that the shaders-enabled toggle at the top of the screen is on.

If the pack doesn't appear in the list, the file is probably in the wrong folder. Move it into shaderpacks and reopen the menu.
