Make Underground Caves Darker and More Challenging
Understanding Dark Caves Mode
Radiant Lite Rays reduces ambient light in underground areas, making caves genuinely dark and torches essential for navigation. This setting is part of the shader's core lighting system.
Adjusting Cave Darkness
In the shader settings menu, find the ambient light or cave lighting options. You can:
- Increase or decrease overall cave darkness: Lower ambient light values make caves pitch-black without torches
- Adjust torch brightness: Compensate for darker caves by making torches brighter if needed
- Control light falloff: Some settings let you change how quickly light from torches fades into darkness
Preparing for Darker Mining
Before venturing underground with maximum darkness enabled, ensure you have:
- Plenty of torches or alternative light sources
- A clear mining strategy to avoid getting lost
- Torches placed frequently to mark your path back
You can toggle these settings on and off to find the balance between atmospheric darkness and playability. Experiment in creative mode first to see how different settings affect visibility at various depths.
