PR1SMLITE Shaders FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I turn on PR1SMLITE Shaders?
With Iris, go to Options > Video Settings > Shader Packs, click PR1SMLITE, then click Apply or Done. With OptiFine, go to Options > Video Settings > Shaders and click PR1SMLITE in the list. If the pack isn't listed, use the button on that same screen to open the shader pack folder, and make sure the pack is inside it.
Do I need OptiFine or Iris for PR1SMLITE to work?
Yes. PR1SMLITE is a shader pack, so the game can only load it through a shader loader like Iris or OptiFine. Without one there is no shader menu, and the pack does nothing.
I turned PR1SMLITE on but my game looks the same, is it broken?
Probably not. The pack is designed to keep the classic vanilla look, so the main change is a soft bloom glow around bright lights and glowing blocks. Check that PR1SMLITE is actually selected in the shader menu, then look at a torch or lantern at night or in a dark cave, where the glow is easiest to see.
Will PR1SMLITE run on my laptop with integrated graphics?
That's exactly what it's built for. It targets low-end PCs, budget setups and integrated graphics chips, and it avoids heavy effects so frame rates stay high.
What's the best way to see the bloom effect?
Play at night or underground and build with glowing vanilla blocks like glowstone, sea lanterns, lanterns, torches and shroomlights. Bright light sources against a dark background make the soft glow stand out most.
Does PR1SMLITE add realistic shadows, waving grass or fancy water?
Don't expect heavy effects like those. The pack deliberately skips demanding visual features to keep performance smooth, and it focuses on bloom on top of a clean vanilla look.
My FPS is still low with PR1SMLITE, what can I do?
Lower your render distance first, since that usually has the biggest impact. You can also close background programs and plug your laptop in so it isn't throttling. Pairing Iris with Sodium generally gives better performance on weak hardware than many other setups.
Should I use Iris or OptiFine with PR1SMLITE?
Both can load the pack. On low-end machines, Iris combined with Sodium is often the faster option. Pick whichever loader fits the rest of your mods, because the pack's look is the same either way.
Does PR1SMLITE need to be installed on the server too?
No. Shaders only change how your own game draws the world, so PR1SMLITE is client-side only. You can use it on any server without the server or other players needing it.
How do I quickly turn PR1SMLITE off to compare?
In Iris, press the shader toggle key (K by default) to switch shaders on and off instantly. You can also select Off in the shader pack menu in either Iris or OptiFine. Toggling near a glowing block makes the bloom difference easy to spot.
