Show Off Your Builds with OZZA's Soft Shadows
OZZA Shaders adds soft shadows under trees, hills and player builds. With a little planning, those shadows can give your constructions depth and make them stand out.
Using Shadows in Your Builds
1. Add overhangs. Roofs that stick out past the walls, balconies and awnings all cast soft shadows onto the blocks below. This breaks up flat walls.
2. Vary the depth of your walls. Set windows back by a block, or add pillars that stick out. Each change in depth creates a shadow line.
3. Plant trees near paths and plazas. Tree shadows fall softly on the ground and make open areas feel more natural.
4. Build into hillsides. Hills cast their own shadows, so bases dug into slopes blend in with the shading around them.
Picking the Right Moment for Screenshots
- Shadows follow the sun across the sky. Watch your build for a full day to find when the shadows look best.
- Morning and evening sun casts longer shadows across the ground. Midday shadows sit closer under objects.
- Use the vanilla
/time setcommand in a world with cheats enabled to jump to the time of day you want. - Press F1 to hide the HUD before you press F2 to take the screenshot.
The pack also brightens lighting in every biome, so shadowed areas stay readable instead of turning murky. Don't be afraid to add deep, layered detail to your builds.
