Switch Between Shader and Vanilla Lighting
Disable the Shader Temporarily
If you want to compare the shader's effect or need vanilla brightness for a specific task, navigate to Options → Video Settings → Shaders and select None or Off. This immediately returns you to standard Minecraft lighting without restarting.
Re-enable the Shader
Return to the same menu and select No More Brightness Shaders from the list. Your world will instantly update with the softened daylight effect.
Use Cases for Switching
You might disable the shader when building or decorating indoors, where vanilla brightness is clearer, then re-enable it for outdoor exploration. Some players also toggle it based on time of day—disabling during evening play when ambient light is already lower.
Switching is instant and requires no world reload, so experiment freely to find when you prefer each setting. Many players keep the shader on permanently once they adjust to the softer lighting.
