Getting Smooth Frame Rates with Neon Reverie Shaders
Neon Reverie Shaders is built to run smoothly on medium hardware. Every shader pack still adds work for your graphics card, though. If you notice stutter, adjust these settings one at a time and test after each change.
Vanilla Settings to Adjust First
1. Open Options → Video Settings.
2. Lower Render Distance a few steps. Shaders have to light and shade every chunk you can see, so fewer chunks makes a big difference.
3. Lower Simulation Distance if you're on a weak CPU.
4. Turn Clouds to Fast or Off if your frame rate drops when you look at the sky.
5. Set Max Framerate to match your monitor so the game doesn't overwork your hardware.
Tweaking the Shader Itself
1. Go to Video Settings → Shader Packs and select Neon Reverie Shaders.
2. Open the pack's settings screen, usually a Shader Pack Settings button.
3. Look for options related to shadows. Shadow rendering is often one of the heaviest effects in any pack, so lowering its quality or distance can help.
4. If the menu lets you turn down extra effects, start with the ones you notice least.
5. Apply the changes and walk through a dense area, such as a forest at noon, to compare.
A busy forest at noon is a good test spot. You get shadows, swaying leaves and lots of lit surfaces all at once.
