Switch On Moonplayshader In-Game and Check It's Working

Moonplayshader is a shader pack, so it needs a shader loader such as Iris or OptiFine. Vanilla Minecraft cannot run shaders by itself.

Loading the pack

1. Start Minecraft with your shader loader active.

2. Open Options > Video Settings > Shader Packs. With Iris you can also use its shader menu.

3. Click Open Shader Pack Folder. This opens the shaderpacks folder. It is a different folder from resourcepacks, so don't put the pack there.

4. Place the Moonplayshader file in that folder. Leave it zipped unless it is already a folder.

5. Return to the game. Moonplayshader should now appear in the list. Select it and click Apply or Done.

Confirming it's active

Go outside in daylight and look at the ground around you. You should see:

  • Clean, simple shadows under blocks, mobs, your player and your builds.
  • Smooth shading across surfaces, while the world keeps its bright, blocky vanilla style.

Then place a light source in a dark spot. The light should have a colored glow instead of the plain vanilla look.

If the world still looks like vanilla:

  • Check that the pack is in shaderpacks and not resourcepacks.
  • Make sure shaders are switched on in the loader menu.
  • Confirm you selected Moonplayshader and not another pack.

To turn the shader off, choose None or Off in the same menu.
