Light Up Caves and Night Bases Using Moonplayshader's Colored Glow
Moonplayshader keeps caves and night skies easy to see. It also gives light sources a glowing, colored look in dark places. You can use both for safer mining and better-looking bases.
Mining and caving
1. Bring plenty of torches or other light sources, as you would in vanilla.
2. Place lights at junctions and on the path back to the surface. In dark tunnels, the colored glow makes your trail easy to spot from a distance.
3. The shader keeps visibility clear, so watch for dark gaps beyond your lights. Mobs can still spawn in unlit spots exactly as they do in vanilla.
4. Mobs cast shadows under the shader. A shadow moving across a lit floor can warn you that something is close.
Lighting a night base
- Try different vanilla light sources, such as torches, lanterns, glowstone, sea lanterns and campfires. Place them side by side in a dark room to see how each one looks with the shader.
- Pick one style for paths and walkways and another for doorways. This makes your layout readable after dark.
- Go outside at night and look back at your base. Glowing windows and entrances stand out clearly against the night sky.
The shader changes only how things look. Light levels, mob spawning and crop growth follow normal vanilla rules, so keep lighting areas properly.
