Get the Highest FPS on a Low-End PC With Moonplayshader

Moonplayshader is built to run smoothly on low-end and potato computers. You can still gain extra frames by adjusting Minecraft's normal video settings while the shader stays on.

Measure before you tweak

1. Load into a world with Moonplayshader active.

2. Press F3 to show the debug screen. The FPS counter is near the top left.

3. Stand in a busy area, such as a village or a large build, and note your usual FPS. Check it again after each change below.

Settings worth lowering

Open Options > Video Settings and adjust these one at a time:

  • Render Distance: This usually gives the biggest boost. Lower it until FPS feels steady.
  • Simulation Distance: Lower it if your loader or version shows it. This reduces work done on far-away chunks.
  • Clouds: Set them to Fast or Off.
  • Particles: Choose Decreased or Minimal.
  • Entity Shadows: You may not need these, since the shader already casts its own shadows under mobs and players.
  • Max Framerate: Set it to your monitor's refresh rate so your PC isn't working harder than needed.

If the pack shows its own options screen in the shader menu, look for anything quality-related. Lower one option, then compare your F3 numbers.

Long sessions

The shader is designed for long play sessions, but laptops can still heat up. Plug yours in and close background programs. If FPS slowly drops over time, reduce render distance a little more.
