Show Off Water Reflections and Wave Ripples

One of the most visible changes in MinecraftShaderized Shaders is water. Surfaces show reflections and subtle animated wave motion. Here is how to set up scenes that make the most of it.

Find or Build Good Water

1. Pick open water with something above it. Reflections need something to reflect, so a lake beside a mountain, a pond under trees, or a moat next to your castle walls all work well.

2. Build a reflecting pool. Dig a wide, shallow basin in front of a build and fill it with water source blocks. The calm, flat surface mirrors the structure behind it.

3. Avoid flowing water for the cleanest reflection. Source blocks give a flatter surface, while flowing water adds extra movement on top of the wave ripples.

Get the Best View

  • Look at a low angle. Stand at the water's edge or crouch on a dock and look across the surface rather than straight down.
  • Try different times of day. The pack shifts sky colours through the day, and the water picks those tones up. Sunrise and sunset give warm reflections, while midday looks bright and clear.
  • Watch at night. Place lanterns or torches along a shoreline. Their warmer glow stands out against dark water.

** The pack also adjusts rain and cloud visuals, so a stormy lake looks noticeably different from a calm one.
