Light Your Base So Torches and Lanterns Glow Warmly at Night
MinecraftShaderized Shaders changes block lighting so that torches and lanterns cast warmer glows in dark areas. Combined with its shadows, this changes how interiors and night-time builds look. A little planning makes your base cosy instead of patchy.
Plan Your Light Sources
1. Walk your base at night first. The shader shows clearly where light pools and where shadows fall, so dark corners become obvious.
2. Use lanterns for focal points. Hang them over doorways, tables and paths, where a warm glow draws the eye.
3. Use torches for coverage. Mount them along walls in corridors and storage rooms so the warm light spreads evenly.
4. Don't over-light. With warmer glows, a few well-placed lights often look better than a wall packed with torches. Vanilla mob-spawning rules still apply, though, so keep light levels safe.
Use Shadows Deliberately
- Sunlight and moonlight cast defined shadows across buildings, and those shadows shift direction as the sun and moon move. Overhangs, roof eaves and window frames create shapes that change through the day.
- Add depth to flat walls. Stairs, slabs, trapdoors and fences jutting out from a wall catch shadows and break up plain surfaces.
- Light outdoor areas as well. A lantern-lined path against a moonlit landscape makes coming home at night feel distinct.
Check your base again at dusk, when sky colours shift, and adjust any lights that clash.
