Explore Caves and Nights Comfortably with Luxor's Lighting

Some shader packs make caves and nights almost pitch black. Luxor Low End Shaders is built to keep good visibility in these settings without harsh pitch-black shadows. This makes mining and night travel much easier to read.

What to expect underground and at night

  • Caves: walls, ores and drop-offs stay readable. You aren't stumbling through total darkness.
  • Nighttime: the world keeps a balanced darkness. Night still feels like night, but you can make out terrain and paths.

Play safely, because the light you see isn't the light mobs see

The shader only changes how the world *looks*. Mob spawning still follows vanilla block light levels. An area that looks visible to you can still be dark enough for hostile mobs to spawn.

1. Keep placing torches or other light sources as you mine.

2. Press F3 to check the block light value where you stand.

3. Light up bases, farms and paths properly. Don't rely on how bright they look on screen.

If it's still too dark for you

1. Open Options > Video Settings and raise the Brightness slider. How much this changes the image depends on the pack and your loader.

2. Check your monitor or laptop screen brightness. Dim displays crush dark scenes.

3. Lower the brightness again if bright areas look washed out.
