Luxor Low End Shaders FAQ

10 questions players actually ask, answered.

How do I turn on Luxor Low End Shaders?
Open your shader loader's shader menu from Video Settings, select Luxor Low End Shaders from the list, and click Apply or Done. If the world looks unchanged, check that the shader loader is running and that you selected the pack rather than leaving shaders set to off.
Luxor doesn't show up in my shader list, what did I do wrong?
Luxor is a shader pack, so it must go in your loader's shaderpacks folder, not the mods folder. Use the button in the shader menu that opens the shaderpacks folder, place the pack there, and reopen the menu.
Will Luxor change how my blocks and textures look?
No. It keeps the original look of vanilla blocks. The changes are to lighting and atmosphere, such as warmer daylight, clearer water, and softer darkness, so the game still feels like vanilla.
Will this run on my budget laptop or integrated graphics?
That's what it's built for. It is designed to run smoothly on low-end graphics cards and budget laptops without heavy frame drops. If you still struggle, lower your render distance and close background programs, because those affect frame rate whether or not shaders are on.
My FPS still dropped after turning on Luxor, how do I get it back up?
Any shader costs some performance, so start by lowering render distance, which usually has the biggest effect. Also make sure your laptop is plugged in and using its dedicated graphics card if it has one, since running on battery or integrated graphics can hold frame rates back.
Are caves and nights pitch black with this shader?
No. Luxor keeps darkness balanced, so caves and nights still feel dark without turning into harsh pitch-black shadows. You'll still want torches for mob spawning, but you can see the shape of the terrain around you.
What does Luxor do to water?
It gives oceans, rivers, and lakes a clear tint and gentle reflections in place of flat vanilla water. This works well for screenshots of builds near the shore or of underwater structures.
What's the best time of day to take screenshots of my builds with Luxor?
Daytime looks best because Luxor brightens open landscapes with warm sunlight. If you want a reflection shot, frame your build next to water. Press F1 to hide the HUD before taking the screenshot.
Do I need to put Luxor on my server too?
No. Shaders are purely client-side, so only players who want the look need it in their own game. A server doesn't need it, and other players without it will just see normal vanilla visuals.
Can I use Luxor with a resource pack?
Usually yes. Shader packs and resource packs are loaded separately, so you can run Luxor on top of a texture pack. Since Luxor is designed around vanilla's look, it will feel most natural with vanilla-style textures.
