Keep Frame Rates High with Lucid Clarity on a Low-End Laptop
Lucid Clarity is built for weak hardware and older setups. It aims to keep the game fast and avoid heavy visual clutter. You can push performance further by pairing it with sensible vanilla video settings.
Tune the vanilla video settings
Open Options > Video Settings and adjust these one at a time. Check your frame rate after each change, using the F3 debug screen if you like.
1. Render Distance: Lower it a few chunks. This is usually the biggest single gain on a laptop.
2. Simulation Distance: Lower it as well, especially in single-player.
3. Clouds: Switch to Fast or Off.
4. Particles: Set to Decreased or Minimal if explosions or rain cause stutters.
5. Entity Distance and Shadows: Reduce them if the menu offers them.
6. VSync and Max Framerate: Turn VSync off and set a frame cap your machine can hold steadily. A stable cap often feels smoother than a high number that keeps dropping.
Laptop-specific checks
- Plug the laptop in. Many laptops slow down the graphics chip on battery power.
- If your laptop has two graphics chips, use your system's graphics settings to make Minecraft run on the stronger one.
- Close browsers and other background programs while you play.
- If performance is still tight, open the shader menu and look for a settings button for the pack. Lower any options it exposes, then compare your frame rate with the pack turned off. That shows how much the shader itself costs on your machine.
