Lucid Clarity Shaders FAQ

10 questions players actually ask, answered.

How do I actually turn on Lucid Clarity Shaders in game?
Open Options > Video Settings and go to the Shader Packs menu (Iris) or the Shaders menu (OptiFine). Click Lucid Clarity in the list, then hit Apply or Done. The lighting should change right away. If the pack isn't listed, check that it's in your shaderpacks folder and reopen the menu.
Do I need Iris or OptiFine to use Lucid Clarity?
Yes. Lucid Clarity is a shader pack, not a standalone mod, so it needs a shader loader like Iris or OptiFine to run. Without one, the game has no way to load it and everything stays vanilla.
I selected Lucid Clarity but nothing looks different, what's wrong?
Make sure you clicked Apply and that shaders aren't toggled off. Iris lets you toggle shaders with a keybind, which is K by default. Also check that the pack shows up as active in the shader menu and not just highlighted. Since Lucid Clarity is a subtle Vanilla+ pack, compare against shaders off to spot the softer lighting and cleaner skies.
Will Lucid Clarity run on my old laptop or potato PC?
That's what it's built for. It brightens the world with soft lighting and clears up the skies without heavy effects, so it's meant to keep frame rates smooth on weak hardware. Very old or integrated graphics can still lose some FPS compared to no shaders at all.
My FPS still dropped after turning on the shaders, how do I get it back up?
Lower your render distance and simulation distance first, since those cost the most alongside any shader. You can also turn down other demanding vanilla options like clouds or particles. If it's still too slow, toggle shaders off to confirm whether the shader is the real cause.
Does Lucid Clarity change the look of blocks or textures?
No. It refreshes the lighting and sky while keeping the classic block style intact, so your blocks still look like vanilla. It changes how the world is lit, not the textures themselves.
Does the brighter night mean mobs won't spawn around me?
No. The clearer night skies only change what you see, not the game's actual light levels. Hostile mobs still spawn in dark areas exactly like vanilla, so keep placing torches even when the night looks easier to see in.
Does the server need Lucid Clarity installed for me to use it?
No. Shader packs run only on your own client, so you can use Lucid Clarity on any server or in singleplayer. Other players won't see your visuals unless they run it themselves.
Can I run Lucid Clarity at the same time as another shader pack?
No. Iris and OptiFine only run one shader pack at a time. To switch, select a different pack in the shader menu, or choose Off to go back to plain vanilla lighting.
The daytime looks too bright or too dim for me, can I adjust it?
Lucid Clarity is meant to give clean, comfortable daytime brightness. If it still doesn't suit your screen, try the in-game Brightness slider or your monitor's settings. Some shader packs also have their own options screen in the shader menu, so check there for any settings it provides.
