Troubleshoot Lag and Performance Issues
Identify Performance Bottlenecks
Lost Signal VHS Shaders adds post-processing effects that can impact frame rate, especially on lower-end systems. If you experience stuttering or low FPS:
1. Open Shader Options and note which effects are enabled
2. Disable effects one at a time and test performance
3. Film Grain and Static typically cost the most performance; Interlaced Fields costs the least
Reduce Effect Intensity
Before disabling effects entirely, try lowering their intensity sliders. A 50% grain effect uses less processing power than 100% while still maintaining the VHS aesthetic.
Optimize Your Setup
- Lower your render distance if shader effects are still causing lag
- Disable other visual mods or shaders that might conflict
- Ensure your graphics drivers are up to date
- Check that your GPU isn't overheating
If performance remains poor after reducing all effects, the shader may be incompatible with your system's capabilities. Consider using a lighter shader alternative or playing without shaders.
