Reduce VHS Effects for Better Visibility
Lower Intensity Without Disabling
If the shader makes your world too hard to see, you don't need to turn it off completely. Most VHS effects have intensity or strength sliders in the Shader Options menu.
Prioritize What to Reduce
Start by lowering these high-impact settings:
- Film Grain: This is often the biggest visibility culprit. Reduce it significantly while keeping the VHS feel
- Static: Dial back the analog noise to improve clarity
- Interlaced Fields: Soften the scanning lines so they're visible but not distracting
- Color Bleed: Decrease the amount of color smudging to sharpen edges
Keep Atmospheric Elements
Consider keeping tracking tears and ghosting at moderate levels—these add character without obscuring details as much as heavy grain or static.
Test your changes in different lighting conditions (caves, bright daylight, night) to ensure you can see mobs and blocks clearly enough for mining, building, and combat. You can always adjust further if needed.
