Show Off the Bloom Glow with Light Sources at Night
Kuwahara Shaders adds a subtle bloom effect. Bright blocks and light sources give off a soft, warm glow on top of the oil-paint look. Here is how to set up scenes that make the most of it.
Find the best conditions
1.** Bloom stands out most against darker surroundings.
2. Go underground or indoors. Caves and enclosed rooms make each light source stand out clearly.
3. Turn Brightness down a little in Options > Video Settings. A darker scene gives the glow more contrast.
Build a glowing scene
- Line a path with torches or lanterns. Each one should pick up a soft halo, so repeated lights read like a painted streetlamp row.
- Use glowstone, sea lanterns, or jack o'lanterns in walls and ceilings. Bigger bright surfaces create a broader, warmer glow.
- Place lava behind glass or in a pool. Large bright areas show the bloom across a wide patch of the screen.
- Keep some dark space around each light. If you pack lights too densely, the whole area brightens and the individual glows blend together.
The bloom is intentionally gentle. Expect a soft, warm halo rather than a blinding flare. Combined with the softened textures, a well-lit build at night comes out looking like a cozy painting.
