Using Katamari Damashaders With Default Textures and Resource Packs

Katamari Damashaders is built to work alongside Minecraft's default textures. It acts as an artistic filter over your blocks and scenery rather than replacing the textures themselves. You can run it with no resource pack at all and still get the full Katamari-inspired look.

Getting the intended look

1. Open Options → Resource Packs and move any extra packs out of the Selected column so only the default textures remain.

2. Click Done, then confirm under Video Settings → Shader Packs that Katamari Damashaders is still active.

3. Walk around a familiar build and compare it to how it looked before. Vanilla textures now take on the pack's bright, retro coloring and lighting.

This is the easiest way to judge what the shader itself adds.

Trying it with other resource packs

The FACTS only promise compatibility with default textures, so other packs are a matter of testing:

1. Add one resource pack at a time in Options → Resource Packs.

2. Look at several block types, water, foliage and a few mobs under the shader.

3. If something looks wrong or clashes badly with the colorful style, remove that pack and return to the defaults.

Simple texture packs that stay close to vanilla are the most likely to blend with the retro shading. Removing a resource pack never removes the shader, so you can experiment freely.
