How to Turn On Katamari Damashaders and See the Katamari Look In Game

Katamari Damashaders is a shader pack, not a regular resource pack. It needs a shader loader such as Iris or OptiFine. Without one, Minecraft cannot use it and your world keeps its normal look.

Loading the pack

1. Make sure Iris or OptiFine is installed and launches with your game.

2. From the main menu, open Options → Video Settings → Shader Packs.

3. Click the button that opens the shader pack folder. This is the shaderpacks folder, not the resourcepacks folder.

4. Place the Katamari Damashaders file in that folder. Return to the game, and the pack should appear in the list.

5. Select Katamari Damashaders. Click Apply, then Done.

If the pack does not appear, check that you put it in shaderpacks. Then reopen the Shader Packs screen so the list refreshes.

Checking that it is working

Load or create a world and look around. The pack replaces standard world lighting and color shading. You should notice:

• Brighter, more colorful lighting than vanilla, with a fantasy tone inspired by the Katamari games.
• Blocks with a fresh, retro-style shading.
• Mobs that pick up the same stylized coloring.

If everything looks exactly like vanilla, the shader is not active. Go back to the Shader Packs screen and confirm that Katamari Damashaders is the selected pack rather than "Off" or "None".
