Show Off Your Builds and Screenshots Using JustVanilla Lighting
JustVanilla adds real-time shadows and better sunlight and moonlight without changing your textures. That makes it a good fit for showing builds the way they really look in survival, just with more depth.
Set up the shot
1. Build or travel to the structure you want to capture. JustVanilla casts shadows under custom structures, so overhangs, roofs, and pillars show off the effect best.
2. Pick your time of day. In the morning or late afternoon, the sun sits lower and shadows stretch further across the ground. At night, the improved moonlight lets you capture builds after dark without the colors washing out.
3. Walk around the build and watch how the shadows fall. Choose an angle where the shadows outline the shape of walls and roofs.
Capture it
1. Press F1 to hide the HUD and hand.
2. Press F2 to take a screenshot. It saves to the screenshots folder in your game directory.
3. Take a few shots at different times of day so you can compare sunlight and moonlight.
Tips for a clean, vanilla look
- Use the default textures or a vanilla-style resource pack. JustVanilla is designed to keep the classic style, so heavily stylized packs can work against it.
- Lower your FOV slightly in Options for a less distorted view of large builds.
- Turn off clouds if they cast distracting patterns across your scene.
