Keep Frame Rates Smooth on a Low-End PC With JustVanilla
JustVanilla is built to run on budget systems and older computers. It aims to keep frame rates fast and stable during normal survival play. If your game still stutters, the cause is usually your general video settings rather than the shader itself.
Tune the vanilla video settings first
Open Options → Video Settings and work through these one at a time, testing in-game after each change:
1. Render Distance: lower it a few chunks. This is usually the biggest single gain on weak hardware.
2. Simulation Distance: lower it if your CPU is struggling, especially in busy bases.
3. Graphics: try Fast instead of Fancy.
4. Clouds: turn them to Fast or Off.
5. Particles: set them to Decreased or Minimal.
6. Max Framerate: cap it near your monitor's refresh rate so the GPU isn't overworking.
Test the shader's own impact
1. Stand somewhere with plenty of trees and builds in view.
2. Open the debug screen (F3) and note your FPS.
3. Turn the shader off in the Shader Packs screen and note the FPS again.
If the gap is small, the shader is doing its job, and any remaining lag comes from your world settings or other mods. If the gap is large, look for a settings or options button on the Shader Packs screen. If JustVanilla offers adjustable options there, lowering shadow-related quality is a good place to start.
