Turn On Hologram Shaders and Check That Mobs Look Like Holograms

Hologram Shaders is a shader pack. It only works through a shader loader such as Iris or OptiFine. Once it is active, mobs, players and items become glowing see-through projections. Your blocks and terrain keep their normal vanilla look.

Activate the pack

1. Launch Minecraft with your shader loader (Iris or OptiFine).

2. From the main menu or the pause menu, open Options > Video Settings > Shader Packs.

3. Make sure the Hologram Shaders file is in your shaderpacks folder. Use the button on the Shader Packs screen to open that folder if you need to.

4. Select Hologram Shaders in the list and click Apply or Done.

5. Load into a world.

Confirm it is working

Walk up to any mob, such as a cow, zombie or villager. It should look like a glowing holographic figure instead of a solid textured creature.

To check players, press F5 to switch to third-person view and look at your own character. You should also appear as a projection.

To check items, throw any item on the ground with your drop key. The dropped item should take on the same holographic style.

Finally, look at the ground, trees and buildings around you. They should look exactly like vanilla Minecraft. If entities glow but blocks stay normal, the pack is working as intended.

If nothing changed, go back to the Shader Packs screen. Check that Hologram Shaders is actually highlighted as the selected pack, not just sitting in the list.
