Run Hologram Shaders Smoothly on a Low-End PC

Hologram Shaders is built to run on budget hardware. It leaves terrain untouched and only changes how entities look, so it is a good pick if heavier shader packs make your game stutter. A few vanilla tweaks help it stay smooth on very weak machines.

Before you load a world

1. Close other heavy programs, such as browsers with many tabs or video players. This frees up memory.

2. Use Iris or OptiFine as your loader. Both include their own performance options alongside shader support.

3. Enable Hologram Shaders under Options > Video Settings > Shader Packs.

Tune vanilla video settings

If frames still drop, the cause is usually ordinary game settings rather than the shader. Open Options > Video Settings and try these changes:

  • Lower Render Distance. Fewer loaded chunks is the biggest performance gain on weak PCs.
  • Lower Simulation Distance if your version has it. This reduces how many mobs are active around you.
  • Turn Clouds off or set them to Fast.
  • Lower Particles to Decreased or Minimal.
  • Reduce Entity Distance if the slider is available. Fewer distant holograms are drawn this way.

Compare with and without the shader

Walk around a busy area, like a village or a mob farm, with Hologram Shaders on. Then switch the shader pack off and walk the same route.

If the frame rate is about the same both ways, the shader is not your bottleneck. Keep adjusting the vanilla settings above instead.
