Fix Hologram Shaders Not Showing or Blocks Looking Wrong

When Hologram Shaders works correctly, only entities change. Mobs, players and items turn into glowing holograms, and blocks stay vanilla. If what you see doesn't match that, work through these checks.

Entities still look normal

1. Check that a shader loader is running. You need Iris or OptiFine. Without one, there is no Shader Packs option under Options > Video Settings.

2. Check the file location. The pack belongs in the shaderpacks folder, not the resourcepacks folder. A shader pack placed in resourcepacks will not do anything.

3. Check the selection. Open the Shader Packs screen and confirm Hologram Shaders is the selected pack. Then click Apply or Done.

4. Check that shaders are not toggled off. Some loaders let you turn shaders on and off with a key or a menu button. Make sure they are switched on.

5. Restart the game. If the pack still doesn't take effect, close Minecraft, reopen it, and select the pack again.

Blocks or terrain look different

Hologram Shaders is meant to leave vanilla block textures alone. If your terrain looks changed, something else is affecting it:

  • Open Options > Resource Packs and look for any active texture packs. Disable them to get the plain vanilla block look back.
  • Make sure you haven't selected a different shader pack by mistake. Only one shader pack can be active at a time, so check which one is highlighted.

Once only Hologram Shaders is active and no texture packs are applied, you should see vanilla terrain with glowing holographic entities moving across it.
