Optimize Shader Performance for Your Hardware
Checking Your Current Performance
Load into a world and enable your frame rate display (usually F3 in vanilla Minecraft). Fly around different biomes and note your average frame rate. This baseline helps you understand which adjustments help most.
Reducing Quality for Better Frame Rates
If you're getting stuttering or low frame rates, start by lowering shadow distance and resolution. Next, reduce reflection quality and volumetric fog density. Disable or reduce wave motion on water. These changes typically have the biggest performance impact.
Selective Feature Toggling
Many shader options can be toggled on or off entirely. If a specific feature (like volumetric fog or PBR effects) is causing problems, try disabling it completely to test. You can re-enable it later if performance improves enough.
Finding Your Balance
Adjust settings one at a time and test for several minutes in different biomes. Once you find stable performance, you can gradually increase quality settings until frame rate drops again, finding your personal performance sweet spot.
