Adjust Shadow Quality and Performance
Finding the Shader Settings
HalcyonDrift Shaders includes an in-game configuration menu. Press the key bound to open shader options (usually accessible through your mod menu or by pressing a designated key while in-game). Look for shadow-related sliders and toggles.
Balancing Shadows and Frame Rate
If you're experiencing frame drops, reduce shadow distance or shadow resolution. Lower values make shadows render closer to the player and with less detail, freeing up GPU resources. If your frame rate is stable and you want more dramatic, detailed shadows across your landscape, increase these values.
You can also toggle shadow filtering quality—softer shadows look more realistic but cost more performance. Harder shadows render faster. Experiment with these settings while watching your frame counter to find your sweet spot.
Testing Your Changes
After adjusting, load into a world and observe shadows during different times of day. Morning and evening produce the longest shadows, making performance impact most noticeable. Adjust further if needed until gameplay feels smooth.
