See Clearly in Dark Caves Using the Fullbright Feature
Forbis's ! Shaders includes a fullbright feature that keeps dark areas visible. You no longer have to squint at pitch-black caves.
Turning fullbright on
1. Open the shader menu:
- Iris: Options → Video Settings → Shader Packs
- OptiFine: Options → Video Settings → Shaders
2. Make sure Forbis's ! Shaders is the selected pack.
3. Open the pack's own settings:
- Iris: click Shader Pack Settings.
- OptiFine: click Shader Options.
4. Look through the options for the fullbright setting and switch it on. If it is not on the first page, check any sub-pages.
5. Apply your changes and return to the game.
When to use it, and what it does not do
Fullbright works well for:
- Mining tunnels
- Exploring deep caves
- Scanning ravine walls for ores you would otherwise miss in the shadows
Fullbright is visual only. It changes what you see, not the real light level of your world. The game still treats unlit areas as dark, so hostile mobs keep spawning there. Keep placing torches in areas you want to secure.
Switch fullbright off when you want the atmosphere back. Your torches, lanterns and lava then do the lighting work and show off the pack's colored lighting. Many players turn it on for a mining trip and off again at their base.
